2nd XI D Division West

WITH neither side having anything to play for, this encounter had an ‘end of term’ feeling to it.

Whitchurch batted first and were soon in trouble. Both Webber and Marais were back in the pavilion, bowled by Josh O’Hare, without a run on the board.

Tamblin and Dunne saw off the dangerous opening attack and then started to move the scoring along. Dunne was unfortunate to be bowled off his pads by Cook (3 for 32).

Whitchurch were rocking at 28-4, but Friend counter attacked with a quickfire 23. Meadows also hit a couple of boundaries but then perished for 13.

Tamblin went soon after drinks for 19, bowled by Carter (3 for 18). Mckenzie marshalled the tail and with Kathryn Gill got Whitchurch to 110 all out.

Hall (2 for 30) struck early in the reply, but Raven and Roud seemed to be cruising.

A mid order collpase sparked by Mckenzie (2 for 22) put the game in the balance.

Harvard was running out of partners but kept his nerve.

Meadows took a couple of wickets and Marais was miserly conceding 7 from 9 overs.

However, Harvard saw his team home closing on 40 not out, as Darts won by two wickets.
