Ivybridge firsts v Tavistock firsts
Tavistock built on their good early season form to record a routine 137 run victory at relegation-threatened Ivybridge.
Batting first, Tavistock started steadily at 56-2, with Billy Barriball and Dave Manning joining forces to consolidate the innings. Barriball played beautifully, hitting three sixes in his 66, while Manning kept up with a six and seven fours in his 57.
Both were out within one run of each other at 184, allowing 16 year old James White to take up the mantle, hitting an impressive 61 off just 35 balls, including three sixes. Harry Geering made a quick 20 to push the score up to 295-8. Getting five for 55, George Berry was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts.
Ivybridge never threatened Tavistock’s total; no batsman scored past 34 and the Tavistock bowlers worked their way through the order in methodical fashion.
Charlie Barriball took 4-20, Dylan Auchamp 2-22 and Sean Cleave 3-47 as Ivybridge folded to 158 all out, giving Tavistock victory in another solid performance.
