Tavistock seconds v
Ivybridge seconds
TAVISTOCK lost the toss and were asked to bat on a cold, showery day. Phil Stephens was soon into his stride, stroking the ball elegantly through the covers to set the scoreboard ticking over.
A rain break, which resulted in seven overs being lost, then occurred with the score at 50. Just afterwards Stephens was bowled. Webber made a quick 21, and with Bees adding 32, a sound scoring base was established. Ben Russell made a swift 35 and, with Rob Milligan and Mark Hopkins contributing, Tavistock went on to 186-6.
After tea Tavistock, blessed with a strong seam bowling attack, put the brakes on immediately, and Ivybridge struggled to get them away.
Northmore, with 22, was their top scorer. Tavistock bowlers Hopkins, who took three wickets, Lewis,Milligan, Hutchins and Gauler tied them down and they could only limp to 124-8, giving Tavistock a win by 62 runs, to keep them in second place in the league.
