Tavistock seconds v Bovey Tracey seconds

TAVISTOCK seconds entertained Bovey Tracey at The Ring on Saturday knowing a win was essential to keep relegation fears away.

Winning the toss Tavistock batted first with Darren Chappell the chief early scorer with a patiently made 38; however, at 48-4 the home side were in trouble but good batting by Jack Smyly (28) James McGahey with 41, along with captain Marc Lewis (34) helped the team to recover to a respectable 195 all out. Green was the pick of the Bovey bowlers with 3-35.

James McGahey took an early wicket and Marc Lewis the next two to set Bovey Tracey back and only Green with 38 and Sealey with 31 kept the score advancing. McGahey with 2-19, Lewis with 2-17, Stephens 2-22 and Proctor 3-22 whittled away the Bovey innings and they were all out for 131 giving Tavistock a win by 64 runs.

Unfortunately results elsewhere mean the Tavistock side face a big game on Saturday home to relegation rivals Torquay in a must win game.
