YELVERTON thirds returned to winning ways with a comprehensive victory over Cornwood, with Ben Grove scoring his first century for the club.
Yelverton won the toss and elected to field on a glorious sunny afternoon at Cornwood. Tight bowling from the youth and experience combination of Steph Hutchins and Tony Carter put pressure on the home side from the start and, following a steady fall of wickets, Cornwood were restricted to 204-9 in their 45 overs.
In reply, Yelverton got off to a lightning start with big hitting from openers Henry Webster (47) and Ben Grove who put on 85 for the first wicket in 10 overs.
Grove then anchored the remainder of the innings, with solid support from Eby Sebastian and Mike Godkin, ending up with 122 not out as Yelverton completed the victory with 16 overs to spare.
