Lewdown v Bridestowe

THE inaugural final of the West Devon T20 was hosted by Lewdown.

Lewdown won the toss and elected to bat. They made a fast start with Kian Burns taking a liking to the Bridestowe bowling.

Sam Ewan took the first wicket with a reflex return catch to dismiss Gearing. Kian was then joined by older brother Tallan and together they set about posting an imposing total.

Tallan was first to complete his half century, with Kian not far behind. Lewdown racing along at 10 an over.

Tallan was eventually out to Jopling for 72 — Jopling was the pick of Bridestowe’s bowlers conceding just 16 from four overs.

Lewdown passed the 200 mark as Kian Burns completed a spectacular century off the penultimate ball of the innings. Lewdown closing on 210 for 4.

Bridestowe needed a fast start but struggled to get momentum with Penberthy taking 2 for 11.

There were useful contributions from Sam Ewan (21), Mark Fogerty (15) and McGrattan (23), but Bridestowe were only ever chasing respectability.

The wickets were shared around for Lewdown with everyone taking one.

Vallance and Fogerty saw through the overs taking Bridestowe to 127-9 as Lewdown were the winners by 83 runs.

The West Devon T20 final was sponsored by Fairway Furniture.
