Whitchurch seconds v Shaldon Optimists thirds

THE Whitchurch Wayfarers’ seconds completed a comprehensive win against strugglers Shaldon.

Skipper Webber continued his fine form with the coin and asked the visitors to bat first.

Andy Hall got an early wicket, before Wilcox (18) and Paget (24) pottered along to 40 for 2. Kerswill bowled a tight line and was rewarded with the wickets of the middle order. He took 4-13 as Shaldon struggled to make headway. Only Waggett (24) got runs in the lower order as Steve Hunt cleaned things up with 3 for 22 assisted by two catches from son Tyler. Shaldon were dismissed for 145, 49 of those being extras.

Dunne and Credicott saw off an early scare adding 60 for the first wicket.

It was then a question of when the win would be completed. Credicott dealt mainly in boundaries passing 50, while Tyler Hunt showed plenty of promise with a quickfire 31. Tamblin (16 not out) and Credicott (74no) ensured no further alarms, as Whitchurch won by eight wickets with just under half the overs in hand.
