Yelverton seconds v Babbacombe seconds

YELVERTON Bohemians second tore up the form-guide on Saturday afternoon, beating previously undefeated Babbacombe at Langton Park.

The victory was largely based around a good batting on a slow wicket.  Veteran Chris Cottrell (83 runs) and 14 year-old Colt Jamie Cooper (60) put on what was the decisive partnership of the game, amassing 154 runs in their opening partnership.

Rob Grove (46) swung the willow to good effect later on and with various other minor contributions, got the Bohemians up to a more than useful 231 all out off 45 overs.

In reply, Yelverton’s youthful bowling attack came to the fore, bowling out Babbacombe for 194 to ensure a 37 run victory and a maximum 20 points haul.

Ben Grove (2-35), Jamie Cooper (2-31) and Toby Julyan (2-36) made significant inroads with Chris Cottrell also in the wickets with 2-22.

Steve Colmer also contributed by bowling an economic nine over spell mid-innings to frustrate the opposition.
