Babbacombe firsts v Tavistock firsts

TAVISTOCK first XI visited Babbacombe on Saturday hoping to keep up their promotion challenge.

On a difficult wicket Babbacombe made a steady start, before James White began to make inroads into the batting with 3 for 23. Broad made 23 but captain Daymond, bowled his spinners well and his 4-17 was justified. Charlie Barriball backed up his captain with 2-28, and Babbacombe were all out for 87.

In reply, Tavistock knew this would not be easy. Gray and White put on 37 before both went, and the struggle continued with wickets being lost in clusters, before Charlie Barriball calmed nerves with a hard hit 24 not out to ensure victory.

Tavistock are now five points behind second place Seaton with two games to go.
