Yelverton Bohemians v Kenn

YELVERTON men’s first team made hard work of chasing down a modest total of 147 set by opponents Kenn, in a low scoring affair.

Kenn struggled early with the first runs off the bat coming off the seventh over, as Lojsczcyk (1-31) and Crompton (0-18) showed a good degree of control. Lojsczcyk eventually found the breakthrough, with a smart catch behind by wicketkeeper Zubar, quickly followed by a run out as Geoff Brain, Rich West and Zubair combined from the long boundary.

With Keylock (1-14) and Hobbs (2-25) bowling, wickets fell steadily, the only resistance shown by Swannel, eventually bowled by West (1-25) for 50. Colmer picked up three wickets through the lower middle order, however Yelverton failed to pick up the last wicket.

In reply, with normal opener Julyan injured, Geoff Brain was joined by Hobbs. Brain was quickly back in the pavilion, adjudged lbw for 0.

In at three, Scott-Kirk (30) and Hobbs scored quickly, before Hobbs fell for 15. The scoring rate continued with Zubair (27), however when captain West fell (8), there was a danger of Yelverton collapsing. However Lojsczcyk (25) and Symes (19) got Yelverton close, before both falling leaving the score at 143-7.

Julyan (2) and Keylock (5) combined to see Yelverton over the line to maintain their 100% record.
