Yelverton thirds v

Hinton Admirals

YELVERTON Bohemians hosted touring side Hinton Admiral CC from Hampshire at Mount Kelly school.

Thanks to the hard work of the ground staff the game defied the odds on Saturday and was the only match in Devon to play a complete game.

With the weather forecast showing rain later in the day, Yelverton skipper Gary Hutchins shrewdly suggested bringing the start time forward to beat the predicted deluge with a T20 game to beat the rain.

Hinton Admiral CC batted first and lost a wicket first ball, Josh Stephenson the bowler, the batsman caught by Brian Spear in the Gully.

The Yelverton bowlers including colts Will Warren, Christian Vinson and Sami Rahman all bowled well considering the wet ball and restricted the Hinton Admiral total to a respective 154 when their overs ran out.  Two of the Hinton batsman including skipper Ryan Attree retired 50 not out.

In reply, Yelverton totalled 122-6 off their 20 overs with Christiaan van Niekerk top scoring with 49.

A full 20-20 game was played with Hinton winning by about 40 runs. The sides appreciated all the hard work that went in to getting the game played before they went back to YBCC to enjoy the host club’s hospitality.
