Tavistock v Braunton

TAVISTOCK first team entertained Braunton at the Ring on Saturday on a mostly fine day, with only one interruption for rain.

Tavistock put in by the visiting captain made a steady start. Dave Ball and Ian Gray took the score to 71 before Gray was dismissed; two more quick wickets fell before Aaron Churchill joined Ball in a match winning partnership of 115. Churchill was back to his old self hitting magnificent sixes all over the ground in a quick fire 58. Ball continued on his merry way and reached a landmark first century for the club, finishing 110 not out at the end of the innings. Joe Barras check with 2-29 was the best Braunton bowler.

In reply Ball followed his heroics with the bat by opening the bowling and taking two quick wickets. Tight bowling kept Braunton in check and with wickets falling regularly they were always struggling.

Chris Bray produced his best spell for the club, finishing off the tail for figures of 4-21, giving Tavistock victory by 75 runs to keep them comfortably in the middle of the table.
