SIXTY four Cotehele Quay rowers, with their supporters, competed on the Isles of Scilly competing in the World Pilot Gig Championships. Cotehele Quay crews have been training hard since January both on and off the water. Ten crews from the club - three mens, three ladies, two men's veterans and two ladies' veterans took part — the most in the club's history. In the veteran (over 40s) race, with gigs rowing from St Agnes to St Mary's, the Cotehele Quay. ladies' vets A came 43rd and the B crew 34th (out of 58 boats). The men's vets A came 25th and the B 42nd (out of 44 boats). In the ladies' and men's races the racing was physically and mentally challenging for the crews and their coxes. The club was delighted to see improved results for five of the crews and especially pleased with those of the Ladies A crew who came 27th. The Cotehele Quay final results were: Men (out of 138), men's A 50, men's B 67 and men's C 122. Ladies (out of 141), ladies A 27, ladies B 99, ladies C 96.
