Plymstock United 1
Horrabridge Reserves 9
WITH only 12 players available, manager Nick Monk expected a tough game against a team who had made five new signings but Horrabridge started strongly with an early goal after good work from Sam Saunders allowed Ryan Smale to tap home at the back post.
Plymstock equalised when their striker scored from eight yards, even though when played through he was offside. Bridge then ran riot with Smale scoring three more and Mike Cornish also on target.
Bridge started the second half strongly and scored again when Mark Norman played in Smale to get his fourth.
Cornish was causing chaos down the left wing and scored two more goals after good work from Will Pike and Smale, to set him up to grab his hatrick.
Defender Rob Moloney also got on the score sheet — after a mazy run down the left he was taken down in the area and he stepped up to slot the penalty home. Smale got his fifth when he went clean through and rounded the keeper, slotting into the bottom corner.
With five mins left Plymstock were awarded a penalty but keeper Shaun Moloney dived to his right to palm the ball away and wrap up a comfortable victory, sending Bridge to top of the table.
