HAVING beaten each other 3-2 in the Tavistock Snooker league this match between Conservative Z and Conservative B was always going to go to the wire.

Ash Norton got the Z team off to a flyer with his own brand of flamboyant snooker which was too much for the B teams Ewings. Mark Evans got the B team level with a‚ take no prisoners‚ frame of snooker over a shell-shocked Fitzsimmons.

A skipper's innings from Andrews put the B team in front as he proved too strong for Dodd. Back came the Z team with McKechnie continuing his recent rich vein of form to oust a spirited Lillicrap to put the match all square again.

A nervy final frame was littered with errors as neither the Z team's Symons or the B team's Dolan could make any headway. It was Dolan who held his nerve in a black ball finish with a tricky little pot along the rail. To the delight of his team mates, Dolan had booked his team a place in the finals.
