THE meeting between second in the Tavistock Snooker League West Devon A and bottom placed Conservative C was supposedly a forgone conclusion especially with two of the Con C's regulars out of action.
First up was Rich for West Devon A against the hastily drafted in Gliddon, some steely potting and break building by Rich, culminating with a break of 24 to see off his opponent.
A steady game by Jago (junior), in only his second game of the season, for the Con C's A resulted in a victory over a 'generous' Lawrence who donated 23 points in fouls to aid Jago's win.
Ward was seen off by some excellent potting skills on the part of Morris for Con C.
Heathman then took the fourth frame for West Devon A removing Jago (senior) in an uneventful game.
It went down to the final frame, which saw Taylor for Con A take an early lead against Hoare. After an exchange of fouls by both parties, Hoare potted the blue and pink to run out a worthy winner.
Conservative C can take full credit for restricting this loss to a mere 3-2 against one of the top teams in the league and spoke volumes for their attitude and fighting spirit.
