Okehampton ladies 3
Exe ladies seconds 3
WITH a few key players missing and a midweek defeat against local rivals Tavistock, Okehampton ladies' first team were somewhat nervous ahead of their match against Exe Seconds, who were one place above them in the league table.
Okehampton started out quickly wanting to seal a win. It was not long before Kim Davey powered through to open the scoring with a shot smashed into the back of the net.
Exe were quick on the rebound and closed down the Oke defence of Nicola Stoneman, Jane Jones, Carol Taylor and Katie Adams to slip a goal past Shannon Osman and level the score line. Player of the match Hannah Whiteley and Jo Moppett worked hard to create scoring opportunities and were rewarded by a short corner which Jones skilfully converted to put the home side ahead once more, bringing with it the half time whistle.
Exe were quick on the attack and midfielder Lesley Bingham battled to keep them at bay but Exe forced an equaliser.
Okehampton began to look worried when Exe quickly scored another to put the away side in front for the first time, but after a series of short corners Bingham coolly slotted the ball past the keeper to bring the home side level once more.
With 10 minutes left both teams battled hard, but a draw was to be a fair result adding a crucial point for Okehampton.
