ISCA AND EXETER UNI LADIES’ FIFTHS 2
OKEHAMPTON LADIES’ FIRSTS 1
OKEHAMPTON ladies’ first team came out strong and getting off to a great start with a shot from the edge of D from Amy Taylor and finding the back of Isca and Exeter fifth’s net.
The visitors stayed strong with some great passing play, driving up the wings and many attempts on goal.
Exeter were awarded a free hit outside Oke’s defensive D which slipped past the defence to equalise.
Nikki Strawbridge for Oke played determinedly and was denied several attempts at goal. Driving it up the pitch and foiling Exeter’s defence, but was unlucky to not find the backboard.
Okehampton’s defence was strong and well positioned and kept under control by Ella Kaye in goal. Emilia Bazely and Nikki Pedrick held off some lose balls from Exeter.
At half time the score was 1-1 and both teams came out ready to attack.
Unfortunately for Oke, Exeter pierced their defence and slipped the ball into the net to give them the lead.
Kim McGratton for Oke made some strong hits into the D, with the forwards Lesley Bingham, Claire Grubb and Molly Petheridge trying to get them in but the home defence held them off.
Oke’s midfield was strong and their player of the match Elly Jenkins held off many of Exeter’s advances to help keep the ball in the attacking D. Lucy Wiseman and Sophie Whiteley kept the ball moving and holding possession. Okehampton played right to the end whistle and were denied a final shot on goal as time ran out.
