OKEHAMPTON LADIES’ FIRSTS 2
CARADON LADIES 2
The Columbines have been working hard on their structure and started the game fully in control and on their terms, with weaving runs from Amy Taylor and Claire Grubb surprising the visitors who could only desperately defend.
After sustained pressure, the home side had their chance when a penalty was awarded due to a Caradon foot on the goal line; this was emphatically converted by player of the match Lucy Wiseman.
Buoyed by this lead, Okehampton began to overwhelm Caradon; a cool headed Anna Crome streaked across the D and slipped the ball under the keeper to make it 2-0 at the break.
As expected Caradon came back fighting and converted a penalty flick and corner of their own in the second half followed by a second to equalise.
Okehampton’s defence stayed strong, helped by some outstanding saves from keeper Jennie Humphries. Both teams tried in vain to score the winning goal but the scores ended level at 2-2 with a well deserved point added to Oke’s tally.
