OKEHAMPTON firsts played the club’s second team on a wet and windy day but both teams started well.

An early short corner for the firsts resulted in a goal for Laura Parsons.

However Oke seconds made every effort to make short sharp passes with left back Anna Luxton, working well with Sophie Muggeleston and forward Alex Collins to try and work the ball up the left side of  the pitch. Their goalkeeper Ella Moore made some superb saves from the firsts’ forwards.

The firsts pressed hard, passing the ball well around the pitch with Helen Dalton and Nicky Pedrick making some good runs down the wing with some good crosses into the forwards resulting in goals from Rochelle Woolacott and Emily Rowlands.

Sophie Whiteley and Molly Marvin worked well in midfield for the firsts, pushing forward and making the seconds’ defence work hard and thwarting several attempts on goal.

Pushing hard for the first team Emily Rowlands earned a great rebound goal. Several goals followed by Laura Parsons, Sophie Whitely and Rochelle Woolacott.

The seconds did not give up and fought back into the firsts’ half, making Amanda Sim work hard and keeper Alice Wiseman had to save several shots. At half-time Oke firsts were 7-0 up despite the seconds putting in the effort.

The firsts earned another short corner with Rochelle Woolacott stepping forward and slipping it past the keeper. Working hard together, the first team earned themselves reward with goals from Hannah Whiteley, Emily Rowlands, Sophie Whiteley and Nicky Strawbridge.

After several more short corners two more goals were netted by Rochelle Woolacott and Laura Parsons.

The seconds, however, were not done and after one last big push they broke through the firsts’ defence to score in the last five minutes. Okehampton working as a team drove the ball up the pitch and were delighted when Alex Collins scored.
