THE Okehampton front five of David Lee, Steven Paul, Pat Nash, Jake Johns and Jake Barber dominated the set pieces taking some of Devonport's scrum and lineout ball. With the Oke backrow of Dean Abrams, Liam Sampson and Dean Folland being much sharper around the pitch the home side ran in five tries in the first half.
The first try went to Stephen Paul who crashed through under the posts after some good forward drives, centre Luke Dennis cut a nice line through the centre, drew the full-back to put No 8 Dean Folland through from the 22 for the second.
Giles Heard then broke through the centre, was tackled just short of the try line, the ball was quickly moved by scrum-half Jacob Nash to the blind side to put Jake Johns into the corner to score. Devonport contested the restart well tapping the ball back but Jake Barber shot through, scooping up the loose ball, breaking a couple of tackles and then with a clever inside pass to put Stephen Paul clear through from half way.
The final try of the half came when Billy Searle made a break from half way, chipped the ball over the defender, gathered to touchdown. Searle also converted four to give Okehampton a healthy 33-0 half time lead.
Devonport started strongly in the second half but the Oke defence held and then gradually got on top for Searle, now playing at full-back, to come into the back line and cut through to score from halfway and convert his own try.
The final try came after some sustained pressure from the forwards with George Baker crashing over by the posts; Jordan Petherbridge added the conversion.
