WHITCHURCH Wayfarers Cricket Club held their annual 25No cup at Whitchurch House — an inter-club cup, with colts ladies, men and friends involved.

Ray Northey and Billy Fletcher opened the batting for the Powells XI with Northey posting a superb 25, with Billy and Sue Paul falling early. Emma batted patiently and kept Northey company until he hit his own wicket.

A mini collapse saw Pete Rodgers being caught extremely well by Jo Hair off the bowling of Steve Hodge.

This bought Simon Parisio and Dan Luffman to the wicket and together they put on 50 runs with Luffman getting 42, hitting all round the ground, when both were adjudged lbw.

Bringing youngsters A Hall and David Northey to the crease, patiently keeping the bowling out they put on 20, runs until Northey junior, was bowled by Bert Rodgers. Ben Powell then joined Hall, and hit a quick 40, until Hall was caught by Paul Tysley.

Hodges's XI started well with Gillian Northey (30), hitting to all parts of the ground, after Pearce and Hall fell cheaply. Clare Glanville joined Northey, and scored 13 before being adjudged lbw to Dave Northey.

This bought Hodge and Paul Tysley together, and consistent shots to the boundary mainly from Hodge (56), brought Hodge's XI to within 40 runs off winning the game, when Hodge was run out. Bringing Steve Hodge and Bert Rogers together, they batted patiently until requiring eight off the last over.

A few scrambled runs and on the very last ball Hodge failed to connect and thus his team lost by three runs.

Powell's XI bowling: Billy Fletcher 5-0-0-35; Emma Hogg 4-0-2-20; Aiden Hall 5-1-1-20; Josh Holmes 4-0-1-20; Pete Rogers 3-0-0-15; Dave Northey 5-0-2-12; Ray Northey 5-1-0-20; Simon Parisio 4-0-0-18; Ben Powell 5-0-2-10.

Aftet the game The 25 no cup was presented to the winning captain Ben Powell by Steve Hodge the opposition's captain.
