IN division one of Okehampton and District Table Tennis League, Anchorage A were at home to Academy.

The first game was a hard fought five leg match. Colin Jones took the first two legs against Tom Pearce but lost the next three to put Academy 1-0 ahead. Malcolm Hopkins won the next against Ben Hill in straight sets. Colin Brooker beat Tom Pengelly 3-2. Colin then won against Ben Hill to level the score at 3-3.

The next two matches went to five leg sets again, Tom Pengelly beat Malcolm and Tom Pearce completed a fine maximum against Colin Brooker. Ben Hill beat Colin Jones in the next singles and joined Tom Pearce in the doubles beating Colin Jones and Malcolm for a 7-3 win for Academy.

The next match saw Tavistock play Okehampton A who won the first two. Nick Jackson beat Peter Hicks and John Squire beat Kevin Davies.

Nick won the next against Kevin Davies 3-1 to Okehampton. Tavistock then won the next three to lead 4-3. Nick then levelled the score at 4-4 and he competed a fine maximum.

Peter Hicks won the last singles against John and joined Roger Bokett in the doubles beating Nick and John 3-2, for a hard fought 6-4 for Tavistock.

In division two, Walkhampton were at home to Milton Abbot B. Ben Edmunds did well to beat Harry Barnaby to put Walkhampton 1-0 ahead.

Ben Evans won the next for Milton Abbot, followed by Callam Sherrell for Walkhampton - making the score 2-1 to Walkhampton.

Harry had to pull out all the stops and just beat Callam in the fifth leg. Ben took the first two games against Rob Evans who fought back to win the next two. Callam took the fifth to put Walkhampton 3-2 ahead before Ben Evans won the next against Chris Jackson to level at 3-3. Then Callam won the next and Harry took his last singles to level again at 4-4. Chris Jackson completed a fine maximum beating Ben in the last singles. Walkhampton won the doubles for a 6-4 win.

The last division two match Okehampton B were at home to Anchorage B who proved to be far too strong and won the match 10-0 to help them close the gap on league leaders Milton Abbot A.
