IN division one of Okehampton and District Table Tennis League, Milton Abbot were at home to league leaders Tavistock.
Peter Hicks scored a fine maximum for Tavistock and Tim Westcott won two for Milton Abbot 13-11 against Roger Bowkett in the fourth leg and was taken to five legs against new player Keith Morris just winning 3-2. Michael Blatchford just lost out to Keith 3-2.
Tavistock won the doubles. Roger and Peter were pushed all the way by Michael and Tim 3-2 for an 8-2 win for Tavistock.
Anchorage A played Academy in a hard fought match despite Colin Brooker scoring his first maximum of the season. Anchorage went down 3-7. Colin beat Ben Hill in four legs and had to pull out all the stops against Tim Pengelly after losing the first two legs. He stepped up a gear winning the next 3. Colin Jones took Tim Pengelly to five legs just losing out 10-12 in the fifth. He also took Ben Hill to five legs just losing 8-11. Malcolm Hopkins also took Tom Pearce and Ben Hill to five legs and Colin Jones also took Tom Pengelly and Tim Pearce to five leg deciders. Tom Pearce and Tom Pengelly won the doubles against Colin Brooker and Colin Jones for the 7-3 win.
In division two Gunnislake were at home to league leaders North Wyke who won the match 7-3. Jill Whitley and Enrique Berrora both scored their first maximums of the season. Mike Alexander, John Wilkinson and Mike Kinser all won one singles each for Gunnislake. North Wyke won the doubles for a 7-3 win for North Wyke.
The next match Okehampton C played Horrabridge. John Steward scored his seventh maximum of the season ably supported by Callum Sherrell with two singles. Ben Bolton did well to score two singles for Okehampton and took Callum to a fifth leg decider for his second; after losing the first two legs he took the next three. Gill Northey took Martin and Richard Rose to five legs just losing out. Both in the fifth legs, John and Callum beat Martin and Ben in the doubles for a 6-4 win for Horrabridge.
The last division two match, Okehampton B played Moretonhampstead. Ken Underhill and Brian Skilton both scored maximums. For Moretonhampstead John Honick and Maureen both scored one singles each against Wendy Collins. Ken and Brian beat John and Maureen in the doubles for a 8-2 win for Moretonhampstead.
