CHILDREN'S charity CHICKS held their annual golf day at Trethorne Golf Club, Launceston last month.
Golfers enjoyed a full day of playing and hospitality at the picturesque course. The event was sponsored by Glencore UK Ltd and a total of 23 teams competed on the day.
Duncan Croad from The Retreat, Canine Hydrotherapy in Okehampton and team members Will Kirton, Steve Lamb and Jon Hunt were the winners.
The Golf Day raised £7,921 which will go towards funding the free respite breaks CHICKS provides for disadvantaged children at their retreats in Brentor and Tywardreath. CHICKS receives no government funding and relies solely on donations to provide free respite breaks for the increasing number of disadvantaged children from across the UK, including hundreds from all areas of the South West. The children CHICKS help include those in care or suffering severe poverty, child carers and victims of abuse.
CHICKS fundraiser Mick Ryan said: 'Although the respite breaks are free for the children, each child place costs on average £735. Events like our annual Golf Day help us raise the vital funds we need to provide the breaks. I would like to say a personal thank you to our many supporters who entered teams and the dozens of individuals and companies who donated such wonderful prizes.'
