Bill Slee Cup
Bampton 0
Chagford 4
ON a small pitch, the visitors should have met half-time in command but had to battle to stay on equal terms in this round one cup tie.
All too often what appeared to be well judged passes held up in the long grass, a fact Bampton played to with their long ball tactics.
Adam Pidgeon, Robbie Miller and Alex Gavillet all went close for Chagford while, at the other end some wayward clearances might have caused their defence some problems had Bampton been sharper.
After 30 minutes, the visitors lost their big forward Whatley with a potentially serious knee injury.
After a half-time pep talk, Chagford came out with a lot of confidence and this was quickly reflected in their taking the lead within minutes of the restart. Pidgeon was fed a fine through ball and deftly opened the scoring.
Twelve minutes later, the same man doubled his and the team's tally, giving Chagford a little breathing space and more control. When Miller fired in a third goal just after the hour, the result appeared beyond doubt although Bampton attempted to rally.
Chagford's defending, with new skipper Will Cork leading the way, blotted out any real threat to Scarry's goal. After Gavillet finished off another good attack the win was beyond doubt.
This was a morale boosting victory for Chagford.
n This Saturday Chagford are away to Woodbury in the DCFA Senior Cup.

Chagford Reserves 0
CHAGFORD Reserves went out of their league cup at the first hurdle. As it was every player fought well and were unfortunate to have conceded five.
Nick Cashmore returned to the team and, with new signings Zakaraa Fehim, Frank Williams and Matthieu Marchal, it is hoped the Reserves will continue to grow in confidence and ability.
