IN the most challenging of conditions the five Dartmoor clubs, Wrangaton, Yelverton, Tavistock, Teign Valley and the home team of Okehampton played for the Dartmoor Pony.

This very popular mixed competition is always keenly contested and the Okehampton team of Allen and Penny Deakin, Nick and Lin Atkinson, Blackie and Michelle Widdows, David and Sue Williams, Captains David and Jane Warren together with Abby Turner and Pete Kiss had a resounding victory.

Organiser Sue Pearman said she was delighted that Okehampton had won in their centenary year and presented the club with a beautiful framed print of the original Dartmoor Pony photograph to mark the occasion.

The Okehampton pairings of Sue Williams and Sue Stanbury together with Abby Turner and Lady Captain Jane Warren represented the club at the finals of the Warren Crocus at Dawlish Warren with both pairings carding an excellent 38 points. This resulted in Sue and Sue coming third in their division and Abby and Jane coming second in their division.

On Wednesday, Mary Keir won the President Salver having the best overall score in the September stableford.

On Saturday, September 21 an individual stableford for the Anniversary Niblick was held.

The winner of division one was Gareth Holt with 40 points on the back nine from in second Andy Dyer. Third place went to Lewis Parry with 38 points. Division two was won by Mark Howell with 40 points again after countback on the back nine from in second Pete Okopski.

Barry Porter was third with 39 points closely followed by Paul MacDonald with 38 points.

Stephen Latham was the winner of division three and the Anniversary Niblick with 43 points. Sid Sanders was second with 40 points and in third with 38 points was Robert Reddington.
