KEEN?runners are being reminded about the 2014 Tavy 7 which will be taking place on Sunday, October 26 starting at noon. Organised by Tavistock Athletic Club, the race starts and finishes on the far side of Plasterdown from Tavistock and will be signed from the bottom of Down Road, Tavistock. The route for the race has been organised to be as flat as possible, although there is a gentle climb up to Sampford Spiney and a moderate hill afterwards. The Tavy 7 is one of the few races held within the Dartmoor National Park, and the club is hoping for 500 runners this year. There will be a T-shirt for all finishers, a full prize list and refreshments, including hot drinks, bacon baps and plenty of cake. There will also be a Tavy 7 Mini Run with teams from local primary schools invited to compete for the Tavy 7 Cup, at present held by Mount Kelly Prep. More details to follow. The Athletic Club meets on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6.15pm in the Sports Centre at Tavistock College with five running groups to suit all abilities, catering for 5 to 12 minute milers.
