BRIDESTOWE produced a shock result in the local 20/20 competition when beating Tavistock in the finals. A sunny day greeted players and spectators alike for the annual competition and Bridestowe began the day by beating Lewdown in the opening game. Their young side bowled and fielded well to create the basis of their victory, which meant that defeating Lifton got them into the final to play Tavistock, who had earlier been fortunate to beat a well-drilled Sticklepath side. Lifton beat Lewdown in a thrilling game, which went to the last ball. In the final, Bridestowe batted first and aggressive batting saw them reach 129 in their 15 overs, with Jack Hatton and Alex Joplyn both getting thirties. Although starting well, Tavistock's innings fell away to 112-9. Jack Hatton's 3-14 was an outstanding effort. He was duly named 'man of the match' for his efforts and the Bridestowe side collected the trophy.
