IN division one of Okehampton and District Table Tennis League, Bridestowe played the Mixtures twice. The first was postponed from the first half of the season which Bridestowe won 8-2 — the Mixtures with only two players available.
Chloe Greenaway won the two games, firstly beating Francis Griffiths in straight sets to put the Mixtures 1-0 ahead. In her second she did well to beat Mark Tancock 3-2 — the first game Mark had lost this season. In her last singles Mark Fogerty beat her 3-2 for the win for Bridestowe.
In the return match she managed to beat Mark Fogerty 3-2. Bridestowe winning the match 9-1. In their third match, Bridestowe were at home to Anchorage A, who put up a hard match but lost 10-0.
With Bridestowe 9-0 ahead, Colin Brooker took Mark Fogerty to a fifth leg decider just losing out 4-1. This win takes Bridestowe into second place in the league table, one point ahead of Okehampton A.
In the next match the Mixtures were at home to Okehampton A. There were maximums for Naomi Jackson and John Down but John had to pull out all the stops against Chloe Greenaway who just lost out 3-2. Chloe did save the whitewash beating John Squire in four legs, Okehampton won 9-1.
In the last division one match, Anchorage A were at home to league leaders Tavistock in a hard fought match with Roger Bowkett scoring a maximum for Tavistock.
Dave Wilson, playing up from division two, beat Keith Morris in a thrilling five sets.
Colin Brooker also beat Keith but in his last singles beat Peter Hicks 3-2. Roger and Peter won the doubles against the two Colins for a 7-3 win for Tavistock.
In division two league leaders were at home against North Wyke.
Xubo Chang won three singles ably supported by Enrique Cancer with two singles. Brian Skilton did well to beat Enrique and Jill Dilley. Xubo and Jill beat Brian and Ken Underhill in the doubles 3-2 for a 7-3 win for North Wyke.
The next match Gunnislake were at home to Horrabridge. John Stewart again scored a maximum for Horrabridge. John Wilkinson beat Callum Sherril in a hard fought five legs 3-2 to level at 1-1.
Callum won his next two singles and joined John in the doubles beating John and Michael Alexander in the doubles for a 7-3 win for Horrabridge.
Jill Northey did well to beat John Wilkinson in four legs and just lost out in five legs against Michael Alexander.
