DIVISION one of Okehampton and District Table Tennis League saw Bridestowe at home to Anchorage A.
Bridestowe raced into a 5-0 lead before Malcolm Hopkins save the whitewash, beating Phil Down in a close four leg win. Bridestowe went on to win the last three singles and the doubles for a 9-1 win. Mark Tancock and Francis Griffiths both scoring fine maximums.
In the return match Anchorage started with 2-0 lead but Bridestowe stepped up a gear taking the next seven singles and doubles for a 8-2 win. Malcolm and Colin Broker saved the whitewash both winning against Francis.
The next match Bridestowe were at home to league leaders Tavistock. Mark Tancock won a hard fought game against Fred Phillips 3-2 which put Bridestowe 1-0 ahead. Roger Bowkett beat Francis 4-1 to level the score at 1-1. Mark scored another fine maximum, but Tavistock took the match 7-3.
In division two Milton Abbot B were at home to Okehampton C. Richard Rose put Okehampton ahead, beating Ben Evans in straight sets. Michael Blatchford levelled for Milton in a hard fought game against Ben Bouton just winning in five legs 3-2. Frank Cockburn won the next against Rob Evans and went on to score another maximum. There was another hard fought five leg decider between Rob and Richard who won 11-6 in the fifth leg. Ben won the next against Ben Bouton in the last singles. Milton Abbot won the doubles for a 5-5 draw.
The next match Horrabridge played league leaders Milton Abbot A. Dan Bashford and John Stewart put Horrabridge 2-0 ahead beating Michael Blatchford and Tim Westcott. John went on to score his first maximum of the season.
With Horrabridge 3-2 ahead Tim levelled at 3-3 in a hard fought fifth leg against Chloe Greenaway 3-2. John won the next against Ben. Michael won another fifth leg decider against Chloe 3-2 to level at 4-4. Tim won the last singles against Dan Bashford 3-2, and then with Ben Evans to win the doubles against Dan and John 11-8 in the fifth leg.
For a 6-4 win for Milton Abbot Tim and Ben won two singles each for Milton Abbot.
In the next match Milton Abbot B played Moretonhampstead. In the first game Louie Cherrington pushed Ken Underhill all the way, just losing out in the fifth leg. Ben Evans beat Wendy Collin in the next to level at 1-1. Rob Evans won the next against Richard Underhill. Ken won the next against Ben to level at 2-2. Milton Abbot won the next three to lead 5-2. Ken beat Rob 5-3, Louie won the last singles against Wendy, and Ben and Rob beat Wendy and Richard in the doubles for a 7-3 win for Milton Abbot B.
In the last match, Anchorage B did the double against Okehampton B to win 10-0 to keep them second in the table.
