THIS Sunday's Brentor road race, organised by Okehampton cycling club will see the introduction of 'accredited marshals' by British Cycling for the first time in the South West region.
Accredited marshals have the responsibility to stop traffic to allow the race to pass, without danger to the cyclists and other road users.
Andrew Parker, road race event organiser for the South West region of British cycling, said: 'The Tavistock area was chosen for the introduction of these marshals, as we have enjoyed a particular good relationship with motorists during our previous events here.
'Road users appreciate that delays are very short and that the events bring great kudos to West Devon.'
The races will take place on a circuit around Brentor church from 10am to 3pm, with categories for various levels of racing ability, including one for elite riders in the afternoon.
Tavistock Wheelers will have up to 10 riders in the third/fourth category race making it the largest club in terms of representation.
