TAVY A stretched their lead at the top of the Tavistock Snooker League table with a routine win over Conservative C.
Tavy A’s Evans and Dent were too strong for Con C’s Davies and Bellamy despite a good 22 break from Bellamy.
Another Con C player found himself out potted, despite another 22 break, as Anderson (junior) got the better of Bassett to take his team three up. Despite patches of resistance from Con C’s Jago and Davey, it was inevitable that the final two frames went Tavy A’s way with Monk and Dolan securing them and the maximum five.
Golf A found themselves on the wrong end of a 4-1 beating at the hands West Devon A. This win for West Devon does their title hopes no harm at all.
Heathman and Morris set the scene for WD A as they continued their recent good form to remove Bridgeman and Pope to open up a two frame lead. Kevin Rich continued his winning streak, as he overpowered the lively Whitley to seal the win for WD A. Taylor soon made it four for West Devon A with a dominant display to eclipse Thewlis in a comfortable win.
Turnbull stopped the rot for Golf A, while not at his ‘full throttle’ best, he did what was required to send Lawrence ‘back to his seat’.
‘When all looks lost never give up’ appears to be the mantra of Conservative Z this season against Conservative A.
This game appeared to be dead and buried after the first three frames with Hodge on first for Con Z, unable to keep up with a rampant Wiles. Following on was Symons who failed to cope with Carruthers, although not at his best his undoubted quality was sufficient to make short work of a lacklustre Symons.
Evans for Con A did likewise against a desperately ‘out of sorts’ Fitzsimmons with Evans in total control throughout the game. Three down and it was starting to look ominous for Con Z until Mayors took control of the situation and fought a stubborn rear guard action for his team against Lacey, finally gaining a desperately needed point for the his team.
Last to the table was Flack (junior) who has performed well in his first season, initially taking the lead against Bell but succumbing to Bell’s persistence who took the frame to a black-ball finish, with Flack taking the final honours and turning what could have been an ignominious defeat into an acceptable loss.
