DES Newton from Bere Alston, and a a member of Plympton ABC Boxing Club, went to the Penzance ABC boxing show on Saturday.

He fought Ashley Sparkes of Camborne and Redruth ABC. Des weighed in at 65kg and Ashley weighed in at 68kg in a fight of three x two minute rounds.

The bout was explosive from start to finish with both fighters trading hard punches. Des, however landed cleaner punches to take the verdict by unanimous decision and remains unbeaten in his two bouts.

The Bere Alston welterweight fighter beat his opponent Darren Baskotte in his first fight held in Plymouth in December.

Also from Plympton ABC was Darryl Grigg who won his fight debut amateur bout by a unanimous decision, and Mikey Dann headlined the show with a unanimous decision to remain unbeaten in his 13 fights.
