CONSERVATIVE B recaptured top spot in the Tavistock snooker league courtesy of a 5-0 win over lowly Con Conservative C.

The result flattered to deceive though with four of the frames close enough to have gone either way. Ewings toiled away to a relieved victory over Con C's Angie Ward who put up a tremendous fight coming very close to her first league victory.

C's Jago put in a superb shift running Monk close right down to an awkward blue ball. The last couple of colours again were the only difference between the B team's star man Evans and a battling Wilkinson running the former close.

In contrast to the previous frames the next was a run away for the B team's Lillicrap who potted with a fluency that Neale could not stay with. The five for the B Team came from yet another tight frame as McKechnie dug in deep to see off a robust challenge from Hoare.

Then extraordinarily a match was decided by five black ball games, in a remarkable close encounter between West Devon B and West Devon D.

The first was John Rich for the West Devon B over Paul Shrimpton to put his side 1-0 up before it was 2-0 up as Toland took the next over Jack May. Mike Hooper makes his mark with his first league win over Horrel to reduce the deficit for the D Team, while team mate Decieco holds his nerve in his black ball game to draw the D side level.

The final frame saw the last of the black ball games go to the B teams Roger Rich as he keeps his composure to edge out a good show from Shoulders and take the spoils for West Devon B.
