OKEHAMPTON LADIES’ FIRSTS 8

TEIGN LADIES 0

ON a dreary day Okehampton first’s spirits were not dampened. After a slow start, Emily Rowland received a corker of a cross from Lesley Bingham and slotted the ball into the left corner of the net.

This sparked a further two goals from Bingham, set up skilfully by woman of the match Nicky Strawbridge.

The half time break was used tactically to restore energy in the team which was converted into enthusiasm to score more goals.

Bingham completed her hat trick with a struggle with the goalkeeper on the floor, finishing with a reverse hit. Hannah Whitley was inspired and helped by midfielders Lucy Wiseman and Molly Marvin, who scored two more goals for the team.

Breaks from the opposition were confidently intercepted by defence Laura Parsons and Sophie Whitley which allowed a break from Nicky Strawbridge to be converted into a clean goal by Rochelle Wonnacott.

In a final surge by Ellie Jenkins, who had previously missed an open goal, a sparkling aerial ball made its way to the post, where attacker Hannah Whitley secured her hat-trick with a deflection.

Stand-in goalkeeper for Okehampton Daisy Morgan kept a clean sheet although the home goal was not tested much throughout the game.

l This Saturday Okehampton ladies’ firsts are away in Dawlish to face Torbay.
