Sarah Guy, Tom and Laurence Sergeant at the Edinburgh Marathon.
ON May 29 the Sargeant family from Tavistock ran the Edinburgh Marathon. It was the 65th birthday for Laurence Sargeant...the day he officially became an old age pensioner. What a way to celebrate getting your pension!
Also running was his son, Tom Sargeant, aged 34, and Tom’s long term partner, Sarah Guy, who was running her first marathon at the age of 27.
The weather was perfect, warm, dry but not hot. All three ran superbly, and all three gained ’good for age’ times.
Tom, in only his second marathon ran an amazing sub three hours, finishing in 2 hours and 27 minutes. Sarah ran this, her first ever marathon in 3hs and 34 mins. Laurence ran his marathon in 3hrs and 31mins to come fourthh in his age group.
What a way to celebrate your 65th birthday.. and surrounded by your family too!
