FOLLOWING two years of hard work one of the two Tavistock under 11s' teams enjoyed a well earned victory at Crowndale on Saturday. Every member of the Tavistock Community Football Club U11s team gave 100% effort in an exciting game against Plymouth's YMCA team. Led by captain George Cornish, and with a superb display of confident goalkeeping by Tom Hogan, Tavistock kept a clean sheet in a 5-0 win. Tavistock's goals came from Josh Sawyer (2) Will Scarn (2) and Elliott Overnell. The 5-0 result was the team's first Mayflower league victory in two years and was a brilliant reward for a group of boys, coaches and parents who have always shown superb team spirit and enjoyed their football regardless of results. The happiest members of the squad were the team's manager and coach, Mark Faulkner and Chris Chappell, who give up their Saturdays and Tuesday evenings for games and training. With four remaining games of the season, the squad is hoping to continue its improvement and is hungry for further victories.
