Bere Alston United 4

Morwenstow 4

AT one stage Bere Alston were 4-1 in front but they let their opponents off the hook and nearly paid the price of losing altogether.

Morwenstow took the lead on 10 minutes with a header. Five minutes later Alec Lowe beat three men in the box to smash home.

Ritchie Marshall for the home team scored with a centre come shot and Wayne Small smashed home from 25 yards to make it 3-1 to Bere Alston by half time.

The second half was all one way with the ball being passed around with chances going begging for the home side.

Alec Lowe eventually scored to make it 4-1.

Bere Alston then turned off completely and Morwenstow exploited the home sides old habit of overplaying the ball and giving it away easily.

It led to a hat-trick from Morwenstow's Foster.

Mistake after home mistake was punished and they came back to take a point in what up to then had been a one-sided game.

On Saturday Bere Alston United are away to Liskeard in the East Cornwall premier.

Elburton Villa 2

Bere Alston Utd 2

BERE Alston were made to work hard for a point as both teams eventually cancelled each other out.

The visitors started the brighter but failed to capitalise and went behind to a header. More Bere Alston pressure saw Warren Jones burst through. His shot was parried by the goalkeeper but he followed up to score.

A big shout for a Bere Alston penalty was turned down by the referee after the visitors claimed a header had been handled on the line.

A battling second half saw Bere Alston take the lead as James Follett raced clear to score superbly.

Another penalty claim for 'handball' was again turned down by the referee to the dismay of the visitors.

With time running out Elburton broke away with their winger racing clear and scoring with a cross shot going in off the post to equalise.

No matter how much pressure Bere Alston applied the visitors could not break the home defence for the winner.
