ALTHOUGH it was wet and some times thundery with the occasional flash of lightening this did not stop members of Bere Alston Trekkers from making their way to events last weekend.
The main event of the weekend was the Eden half and full marathon. The route for both is a challenging, multi-terrain one and highlights include the man-made spoil heaps known as the 'Cornish Alps', the Luxulyan granite works and, possibly the highpoint, the former china clay pit — the Eden Project itself.
There were six Bats taking part in the half (five boys and a woman) and one in the full.
First Bat home in the half was Murray who was chased home by Grant; other team members ran great times with Julian returning to previous race times following injury. For the marathon, the lone Bat was Alen who ran in some of the worst weather of the day but finished in a great time.
The second event of the weekend saw Sarah Burns in a marathon at Abingdon, Oxfordshire. Late entrant Sarah and went on to run a great time, again in horrible conditions, of 3hrs 03mins.
Bats will be running next at the Tavy 7.
