DESPITE the rain and wind brought in by Storm Dennis a group of hardy runners from Bere Alston Trekkers took on the challenging Bodmin Half Marathon.

The Bodmin Half is an annual event organised by Bodmin Road Runners. It took runners from Bodmin College through the grounds of the National Trust’s Lanhydrock Park and back again for two challenging, hilly, multi-terrain laps offering stunning views.

The park had been closed on Saturday due to the storm but after a safety check reopened on Sunday for the event.

The wet and windy start line saw 341 take on the event including nine BATs. First Bat across the finish was Jim Medhurst. He notched up an excellent personal best time in 1 hour 51 minutes 19 seconds.

Times for the intrepid BATs who all completed the event: Chris Anthony 1.57.07, Tanya Argue 2.07.54, Lisa Birch 2.20.32, Clare Munroe and Julie Page 2.2.20.35 Debbie Ashton 2.25.04 Natasha Hingston and Shaun Hingston 2.33.35.
