IT was a busy weekend for Bats with club members taking part in a half marathon, a triathlon and a marathon stateside.

In the Great West Run, a new look half marathon, sees runners taking in Exeter City Centre, the University as well as beautiful country lanes and on towards Stoke Woods. The course has been designed to provide great running conditions, on traffic-free roads, with the opportunity for great spectator support.

First Bat home was Simon Griffiths who continues to run strong half marathons. Simon was followed by Toby Rankin who smashed the sub two hour target he was running and next was Donna and Matt Luckham.  Donna ran a superb race to achieve a distance personal best.

At the Wadebridge triathlon for two of the Bats taking part it was their first such event.  The sprint distances were 400m pool swim, 24km bike and 5km run and competed really well making good transitions throughout.  First home for the club and second lady overall was Sarah Morwood who finished in an excellent time of 1.15.31.  Leigh Cossey-Haggar, finished in 1.26.42 and Jason Burns 1.43.36.

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon is known for its flat and fast course that starts and finishes in Grant Park and travels through one of the world's most magnificent cities.

A Bats vest made its first appearance in Chicago proudly worn by Ben Neale who ran a text book race and finished in an absolutely superb time of 3.15.17.  Ben's wife, Holly and their two sons were on the finish line to welcome Ben home.
