ON Saturday three Bere Alston Trekkers travelled west to take part in the Lanhydrock ten mile multi terrain race held within the grounds of the National Trust estate of Lanhydrock.
The event is organised by Lanhydrock NT and they benefit from the proceeds of the event.
It was held in the afternoon in warm sunshine with an autumnal crisp in the air made good running conditions on the undulating but scenic course – although conditions underfoot were perhaps a little too dry for a multi terrain event.
The official finishing times were not available as the Times went to press, but all three BATs said they will be back again next year.
On October 2, four BATs Emma Dooney, Mel Greaves, Laura Newton and Phil King took part in the Delicious Drake’s Trail in support of children’s charity CHICKs.
On September 25, in warm sunny weather BAT Matthew Head took part in the second Perform five-mile. The event offers a relatively flat and fast course that starts at, and finishes with, an almost complete lap of, the Ageas Bowl cricket ground within the West End area of Southampton. Matthew finished in eighth place, in a field of more than 520, with a time of 29 minutes 16 seconds —more than two and a half minutes faster than last year!
