LAST weekend saw a team of Bere Alston Trekkers (Bats) taking part in the Braunton 10.
The event, which forms part of the clubs grand prix, is a 10 mile road race which starts and finishes on the athletic track of North Devon Road Runners' track.
Once out of the village of Braunton runners take a course along quiet undulating country lanes with two steep climbs that will put their fitness to the test.
First lady BAT home was Rebecca Mingo who was chased home by Tracey Oxborough, who also finished first in her age group. First first male BAT home was Phil King. Most of the other BATs taking part were racing the distance for the first time. All the BATs finished in excellent times.
ON Saturday Bere Alston Trekkers (Bats) hosted their annual Bats Big Breakfast.
More than 100 friends and family of club members and members of the community came along and enjoyed a full English breakfast which was cooked and served by club members. A raffle and very successful cake stall also formed part of the event.
The breakfast made more than £600 which will go into the pot to help buy training t-shirts for the club which celebrates its 10th anniversary in June.
The Bats next event will be Sport Relief at the end of March.
