WITH the race calendar winding down towards the festive period, many members of the Bere Alston Trekkers chose to take part in charity fun runs with family and friends this weekend.
However, one intrepid lady BAT Marcia Macey made the journey to Lulworth Cove in Dorset to take part in the Endurancelife’s Coastal Trail Series.
With five distances to choose from, starting at 10k all the way up to Ultraplus (45.5 miles), there was something for everyone, but all races had in common the ’extreme’ rating which was well deserved.
Given World Heritage status in 2001, the Jurassic Coast Path through Dorset is quite unique, taking runners through a few million years of earth time — all with the ocean as a glorious backdrop, and those years were well represented in hills this weekend which were long and arduous.
Marcia has tackled a number of Endurancelife’s Coastal Trail races in different parts of the country and was well prepared to take on the Dorset hills. Marcia finished her race in 4 hours 9 minutes 12 seconds.
