LAST weekend saw solo lady Bere Alston Trekker Heather Lee take on the inaugural Lundy Island Race organised by Pure Trail UK.
As the first race ever staged on Lundy Island, this was a unique experience for competitors.
The race comprised of 14 miles of tracks tended by the Landmark Trust and incorporating all three lighthouses traversing the undulating eastern and western clifftops, and a run along the central spine of the island - as well as a few side tracks. Heather was accompanied during her boat transfer by porpoises and seals, and finished her race is 3 hours 35 minutes.
On the same day, Northern BAT Andy Cowden ran in the Let’s Rock Conwy 5k Trail race in North Wales.
This tough course took runners up and down a wooded hillside near to the town walls which fortunately offered some shade from a cloudless sky.
Official results are awaited at the time of going to press.
