PENZANCE A 1
OKEHAMPTON A MEN 3
OKEHAMPTON A played their first away of the season down in Penzance and with no substitutions available the side were prepared to have a difficult 70 minutes.
The away team started to build the play with a string of passes, with the back four of Bowles, Yelland, Jarvis and Hughes standing strong. The forward line of Bourne, Ash and Smith were busy creating chances but not quite executing them. Eventually Bourne made a tackle and span through the aimed for the post and Ash calmly deflected it in.
Oke pinned Penzance into their 25 and Rowlands played a sublime ball into the D with Bourne hitting it up into the top right corner only to see it saved spectacularly.
As the second half began Penzance came back strongly and after a long corner an attacker run through the defence and hit it passed the Oke keeper to level the scores at 1-1. From the restart Smith played it up to Ash who crossed it to Bourne who beat the keeper giving Okehampton the lead once again. Shortly after another Penzance run found a defenders foot in the D and Oke conceded a penalty corner.
The powerful shot on goal was well saved by keeper Lewis-Humbert as he dived heroically into the ball preventing anyone getting near it much to the home side’s dismay. Oke scored a third and as the game ran out Penzance continued to attack but Okehampton managed to keep them out until the final whistle blew.
