South West one
Bodmin A 2
Tavistock A 5
TAVISTOCK travelled to Bodmin to look at securing another three points in their quest for promotion.
The game started with Tavistock well in control. Moving the ball across the backs of Stead, Davies Honey and Donnelly, and then creating opportunities up the side channels.
The midfield of Elliott, Staig and centre mid Bott, in his new role, were controlling the pitch and releasing Walker, Orman and Daniels up front and Tavistock were looking confident.
The scoring opened with a superb run up the pitch from Stead, who slotted the ball from a tight angle.
Further goals from Orman, via his trademark reverse stick, and another from Stead from a penalty corner gave Tavistock a comfortable 4-0 lead at the break.
This is where it all started to unravel for the visitors. Whether Tavistock were too complacent or Bodmin upped their game, the Tavistock side, were not performing as they had and the game swung in Bodmin’s direction with two breakaway goals.
Tavistock managed to calm themselves and be more composed and started to move the ball with more control and purpose as the half progressed and Walker slotted the fifth, following some good attacking play.
Tavistock A 1
OPM A 1
THIS was the rearranged match that made this weekend a double header.
Old Plymouth Mannameadians turned up with a strong squad and straight away applied pressure onto Tavistock.
The game was flowing from end to end, with opportunities from both sides being created.
The inspired Grahame kept a few early shots at bay, but could not stop the close range shot that gave OPM’s the lead.
Tavistock kept on plugging away but the frantic pace of the game did not allow them to settle into their trademark control and movement.
With a large squad available, Tavistock kept the tempo going and the frontline of Orman, Walker and Daniels were creating opportunities and with Dee adding great direction, the home side looked likely to score.
The second half carried on in the same manner and with a subtle change in the midfield, Tavistock started to control the game more.
Honey showing some great skill managed to find Hancox who powered in a strike from the top of the D.
The game was swinging both ways and a draw seemed to be a fair result.
This result leaves Tavistock A seven points clear with three games to play.
