Okehampton Argyle 3

Plymstock United 0

ARGYLE bounced back from their disappointing result last week by putting in a near perfect display.

Both teams started the game well — Tom McGratton nearly gave the home side the lead, but his volley was well saved. Hird came close soon after for Okehampton when he broke clear of the last defender, but once again Rickard did well in the away side's goal, saving with his feet.

On the brake Plymstock were always a threat, and thanks to some good defending by Williams and Wren the away side were not going to create any chances from all their possession.

Dale Chadwick was carried off after twenty five minutes when he kicked the bottom of an opposing players boot. His injury needed stitches, which will probably put him out of next week's cup tie against Newtown.

After all these chances and Chadwicks injury Okehampton finally took the lead, when John Wiseman scored after being put through from a pin point pass from Kinsey.

The second half saw both teams looking for the next goal, and once again it was the home side who took the initiative.

Gary Hirds shot from the edge of the box came back off the crossbar and fell straight to the feet of Wiseman, he then had the job of knocking the ball over the line for his second of the afternoon.

The final goal of the match was scored by Hirds, this goal rounded off a superb performance by Argyle's flying winger. Plymstock had the last chance of this enthralling match, but Mullholland produced the best save of game to keep his clean sheet in tacked.

n Next week's games sees first team play Newtown (Devon Senior Cup), kick off at 2pm.
