THE final of the Dave Doidge Memorial darts competition was held in the Plume of Feathers at Princetown on Saturday.

It was the eighth year running of this popular event.

There will be another new name on the trophy after Ryan Sellar, who threw some inspiring darts, comfortably beat Ralph Millard by 3-0 in legs in the final.

Dave Doidge's widow Jackie, who organised the event, thanked all the events' helpers and was delighted with the response from the local businesses and individuals. She thanked Keith and Sara of the Plume of Feathers and Shelly and Terry at the Prince of Wales for the use of their premises.

Jackie gave a special thank you to all the shops she 'pestered' in Tavistock for their generous response!

Jackie added: 'The people of Princetown deserve the highest praise for their continued support for this event and for the individual gifts that they supplied.'

The weekly draws produced a total of £1,050 which will go to the Macmillan Nurses Charity fund. This brings the grand total of monies raised over the eight years the competition has been running to £7,073.
